“con reverencia”, the new album from BrightA is now available on Bandcamp, and will be on all DSPs on November 11, 2024

This album is a deeply sacred project, and we are beyond proud of it. It marks the first full-length release on Subtle Mother, carrying profound reverence throughout.

The album features a beautiful blend of languages, including those of Indigenous South American tribes, alongside Spanish and English.

Every dollar from this project goes directly to Finca El Cacharrito in Colombia, the sacred ground where these songs were inspired and profound healing takes place. Your support will help sustain this beautiful space, allowing it to nurture even more transformation and growth. By donating, or buying the album, you’re not just contributing to a cause—you’re becoming part of a living story of healing and renewal.

"The creative process of birthing a song is an intimate meeting between an artist and the Universal Mind. The more empty we become, listening to the voice of Nature, of God, of Life, the easier and more harmonious the Song will descend into manifestation. To me, Life speaks through sounds.

When I create music it always starts from an emotion. At first, subtle, then overwhelming waves of feelings move through my body that usually brings tears to my eyes.
I could call that emotion Love, but it can be various flavors of Love. It can be love in sadness, love behind anger, loving joy, love and grief, love and peace, love and passionAt that moment I recognize that I am receiving something from Spirit. Only in that overwhelming feeling of a greater Love can I create music, as if God was holding me for a moment. It is never planned. I only respond when it comes. Each song and melody is first a gift to me, it holds some kind of medicine for the moment I am moving through, or a message in response to what I am witnessing in my environment.

I will usually first receive a melody that repeats in my head or I will sing it in a dream. The repeating of the sounds like a mantra unlocks an emotional response. I will record that melody on my phone to not forget it. Once I have the melody I start to play instruments, find the chords, and hum  to find its flavor, its message and what the song will be about. It is a meditation. After I have received the theme of the song that is when I sit to write down the lyrics. The songs will usually be written in one sitting and it can last for hours. Once the song is complete, I feel like I am coming out of a trance and I can never really remember how I could possibly create something like that. It is so therapeutic, I can say that each song takes me on a healing journey. Sometimes the healing is ancestral, sometimes personal and sometimes it feels like an offering for the collective that just needed to pass through someone."
